The Wexford Hill Climb was held in good weather (until the Sunday Awards Ceremony) over the Saturday and Sunday, on the 2.2km course out of Newbawn as previously used.
Our Members Val Thompson, Ken McAvoy, Wolfgang Schnittger and Sean Murray were in action and successfully completed their runs, Sean’s day shortened by a failed alternator. Ken had initial engine starting problems, and as usual the Paddock Experts were on hand to get that sorted!
The course is a delight to drive, 90 left after start, followed by a straight blast to another 90 left, followed by a twisty section opening up on a winding road to hit 4th gear before a final downhill over bridge fast right and left over the finish line. The fast boys were doing this in just under a minute, which is an average over 130kmph – wow!
