The Historic Festival was changed from the now traditional August to May, for reasons best known to the organisers! So we had 2 days of racing in good weather on the National circuit. Unfortunately Gareth Thompson had a major encounter with the barriers, this put a damper on the week-end. However the entries and racing were good – results appended here. Dave Griffin, followed by Billy Crosbie, were 1st and 2nd in both races, third place was shared by Stephen Kelly and Bernard Foley one race each.

In the pre ’55 races, Ian Balmforth in his Frazer Nash was followed home by Shane Houlihan (Riley 12/14) and Ken McAvoy (Riley 12/4 TT Sprite) in both races.
