Leinster Trophy Saturday 13th September 2025
Once again we were lucky with the weather, which was a dry track all day except for some early morning damp as qualifying got underway. As the track was drying, it was in the final moments of qualifying that the fastest times were set.
A small field of 9 starters in Qualifying, saw Bernard Foley making an outing in the Crossle 9S take pole from Jackie Cochrane by 0.7 seconds. They were followed in the scratch group by Gareth Thompson, Mark Russell and Clive Brandon. The handicap contingent was led by Wolfgang Schnittger, followed by Derek Kelly, Kevin Flanagan and Mike Dunnion in their Midgets and Chevette HSR.
Race 1 however saw Jackie take the win, followed home by Gareth, Bernard and Mark. Clive spilt water from his overflow catch tank on to his tyres, the ensuing spins and pit stop meant completed the race at the back of the field. Wolfgang took the win on the line for the handicap entry, but when adjusted it was Kevin who took the handicap honours.
Race 2 saw just 7 finishers, Derek Kelly a non-starter in his Midget (not enough gears left in the box) and Jackie also had to call it a day after 6 laps. Gareth took the scratch win, Kevin took the handicap honours, even though without 4th gear in both races.
